Budzhaka Settlement — Mining Site

Description

Late Neolithic settlement on Budzhaka peninsula, Sozopol. 3.5 ha with >10 Neolithic houses, pits, stone/clay structures, handmade pottery, stone/flint/bone tools. Jewellery of malachite and pieces of copper ore found. Also quarries from Classical Greek period, graves, and medieval church (10th–12th c.). ~6 km west of first hills of Medni Rid. Evidence of copper ore use (malachite jewelry) but no direct smelting evidence at this site.
